![]() I have even tried the Mix Control 3.7 update which is a software fix and this is a hardware issue, so that didn't work.Īny ideas and solutions would be greatly appreciated. Update drivers with the largest database available. When i physically unplugged my focusrite from my 2018 Mac mini and restarted all was good. Get the latest official Focusrite Saffire Pro24 sound, video, and game controller drivers for Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP PCs. I just upgraded to Monterey 12.0.1 today and it completely broke all audio / video functionality throughout MacOS. Through some research I learnt that it was possible to use an official Apple thunderbolt to firewire 800 adaptor which I purchased a day ago and it still doesn’t work. I have a Focusrite PRO 40, Mix Control version: 3.9.32.0. My machine kept detecting the saffire and my DAW and OS told me that it is there but I was not able to record with it and got always generic errors during opening the audio device. (however with that being mentioned I haven’t tried to use a firewire 800 HDD because I don't own one, so that’s still a question) I grabbed the latest Saffire MixControl which is 3.7 for windows but at the end I kept the older 3.4 version, which should not matter for the issue. Could it be that the Saffire range has an average working time frame before they damage the Apple firewire bus or at least the data transfer aspect. Both the 24 and 56 were working again until recently when the same thing happened yet again! After many years with this experience I became even more cautious but the same challenge persisted. I was more careful but eventually the same thing happened to the 13inch.Īfter some time, because I like the Saffire interfaces (and I’m a big fan of Focusrite in general) I upgraded to the Saffire Liquid 56 and the Mac Pro (Mid 2012). (hence the “ No Hardware Connected” error)Īfter acquiring my second MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), and the Saffire being responsive once more I attributed this malfunction to a "fried" firewire bus due to the human error of occasionally disconnecting and reconnecting the interface with both my laptop and interface already booted (which is a NO NO). The firewire port was clearly powering the interface, however no "computational” signal was being registered with the laptop and with Mix Control. I have been using a Saffire Pro 24 since 2012 with a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2009) and it served me very well until one day when it suddenly stopped working.
